Mineral Point Road farmhouse has stood for 130 years despite development


The brick farmhouse sits on a ridge overlooking what is now Madison’s Far West Side and is one the few reminders of this area’s agrarian past.

The silos, barn, outbuildings and clotheslines were removed decades ago as development encroached and ultimately swallowed what once was pasture, corn and soybean fields, and gravel roads.

But the two-story farmhouse on Mineral Point Road that was converted to restaurant space in 1981 remains and is once again serving as a communal place while preserving a piece of history...
