When most people think of alcoholic beverages made in Wisconsin, wine likely isn't the first thing that pops into their head. There's a longstanding stereotype that wines produced in Wisconsin are “too sweet” or not as “complex” as other wines across the world — but we talked to two local experts who definitely beg to differ.

Erin Rasmussen is the owner of American Wine Project in Mineral Point, where she's been crafting wines from grapes grown in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan since she moved back to Wisconsin after nearly a decade of working at wineries in California.
