Reynolds Tomter, 108-year-old war veteran and community fixture, passes away


PIGEON FALLS, Wis. (WKBT) — Reynolds L. Tomter, believed to be the oldest surviving World War II U.S. Merchant Marine veteran, died Sunday at the Pigeon Falls Health Care Center, according to an official obituary notice from Jack Funeral Homes. He was 108.

Tomter spent his entire life in Pigeon Falls, where he became beloved for his storytelling and community service.
